Today we are going to talk about a totally cute way to recycle old denim. These days jeans are expensive so why get rid of them when there are so many other ways you can still use them. One way is to make purses.
The first and easiest way to make a recycled denim purse is out of the pocket part of the jeans. If you cut out the back pocket of your pant, front and back, it should leave you with just the pocket with an opening at the top. Then cut a strip off of the leg of the pant part of the jeans and hot glue it or stitch it to both corners of the pocket for a strap. Now you decorate. I recommend lace, feather boas, rhinestones, ribbon, and anything else you can think of!
The more advanced purse is a little more tricky because it involves more sewing, but your end product is just simply adorable. The easiest way is to find an old denim skirt. Even one you wore when you were really young will work fine. Turn the skirt so it is inside out. Then have someone older help you stitch the bottom of the skirt shut. Now flip the skirt right side out again. Now for straps you can get creative and use denim or ribbon or really anything you want. You can try doing two shorter straps or one longer strap depending on what you like better. Now all that’s left is decorating it. Try using fabric paint to make your purse super unique. You could even make purses for your friends!
Let me know how it works out for you! And remember I love getting pictures and suggestions so let me know what you think! :)
