No woman may have gotten a ring on Derek Jeter's finger yet, but the celeb athlete is willing to wear a bracelet in order to help kids stay drug and alcohol free.
The MLB baseball player is now just 11 hits away from being the first Yankee to reach the 3,000 hit milestone. To commemorate this acheivement, Jeter, Major League Baseball, and the Yankees have released the DJ3K bracelet, an accessory that benefits Jeter's Turn 2 Foundation.
$1 from every bracelet sale benefits the charity, which funds programs that encourage young people to "Turn 2" healthy lifestyles that don't involve drugs and alcohol. Launched in 1996, the organization has awarded more than $12 million dollars in grants to programs in New York City, western Michigan, and the Tampa Bay area.
"I thought it was a great idea, to get an opportunity to help out the foundation through this whole event," Jeter said of the promotion, "I think we have the opportunity to [raise] a lot of money."
