When Pottermore.com went live on June 16, fans expelliarmused into their shorts over the prospect that J.K. Rowling would be adding to the Harry Potter cannon in a new book, a new short film or something of the like.

Well, this morning the curtain was pulled back on the site, revealing a explanatory video that told you (almost) everything you need to know about Pottermore.

In addition to finally being able to purchase digital copies of every book (wands at the ready, Kindles!), Pottermore will be an interactive fan community where the world of Harry Potter is expanded upon by the readers and, intermittently, the author.

"I will be sharing additional information I've been hoarding for years about the world of Harry Potter," J.K. says in the video, making for the most notable reveal. Ya know, since the last time she gave viewers a peek behind the Hogwarts curtain, we found Dumbledore in bed with another man! Who's coming out of the broom closet next?
