There are 100,000 unemployed veterans in California alone. Veteran and military spouse unemployment rates remain stubbornly high throughout the country, hitting 25% in some areas.
Working with our partners, Mission Serve is organizing a hiring fair for 1,500 veterans and military spouses, 200 companies looking to hire, and a service project that will benefit 1,000 military-connected kids. In a special partnership, we have joined with the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry and are proud to welcome their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as our honored guests.

Girls For A Change is an official charity involved with the Dodge Rock'n'Roll 1/2 Marathon in San Jose on Sunday, October 2, 2011. The 1/2 Marathon begins in downtown San Jose early on October 2 with a full expo on September 30 and October 1. Check out the official Race website for more details BUT register with GFC to get on the Team!

Summer is already here! We've had such a busy spring time at the house. We spent all of May working to upgrade our rooms. With amazing support, donations, and our incredible staff working tirelessly, we are 95% done upgrading our 18 bedrooms. It's definitely been a large project, but we couldn't be more excited to give each of our families an incredibly comfortable, modern room. If you'd like to come see what we've done, please contact us we would love to give you a tour.
We are getting ready for an event-packed summer at the house. In just 11 days we will be hosting our first ever RMHC Fun Run at Mooney Grove Park in Visalia, Ca. Happy Grads and Dad's month to you all!
We have many incredible things happening with our kids this month. We have three boys receiving their High School diplomas and walking with the other students from Educational Options at Golden Valley Unified School District. Two of them have earned the privilege to be on the honor roll.

In recent weeks, deadly tornados have struck the Southeast and Midwest states of the U.S., leaving a path of destruction in their wake. These super storms − possibly the worst in our nation's history − have killed hundreds and left many homeless. While communities, especially those in Alabama, Missouri and North Carolina, try to rebuild lives, businesses and homes, Clubs have opened their doors to serve those in need. Whether extending operating hours to assist parents, collecting durable goods or providing shelter, Clubs are vital support systems for families.
